Personal Approach
Individual and Natural Shape (Natural Rhinoplasty)
In an initial consultation, a detailed medical history and an examination of the nose (external and endoscopic) is performed. This is followed by photo documentation from 8-10 viewing directions. Based on these images, the discussion of the desired result (what would the patient like to achieve), as well as the surgical options (what can we achieve together) now takes place.
The image discussion is the most important step on the way to a good surgical result. Here we can make sure that the patient’s expectations are achievable, and that the patient gets a realistic idea of how the nose can look after the surgery. Patients are given the processed images and can think about them at their leisure. Usually the image processing is refined in 1-2 further visits. Once the desired image has been achieved, it forms an important basis for both sides: the patient goes into the operation with a good gut feeling, and the surgeon knows what is desired and how to achieve it.
My personal approach is always to achieve a natural and individual nose shape with good air passage. There is no overcorrection, but a “non-operated” look of the nose is aimed for.
During the operation, the anatomical foundation of the nasal structures is always reconstructed and strengthened to achieve a stable long-term result. At the beginning of my plastic surgery training, during my fellowship in Toronto (Craniofacial Fellowship), I was able to perform numerous rhinoplasties on trauma patients and patients with cleft lip and palate.
The basis for these procedures is always the reconstruction of the structural elements of the nose and the optimization of nasal breathing. These basic principles also apply to aesthetic surgeries to create a stable and appealing nasal framework for a long time and to prevent future problems.
